A McDonald's employee says her palm was burned when a customer passed her a burned dollar bill at a New Jersey drive-thru over the weekend, according to police.

Police in Hackettstown responded to the McDonald's on Mountain Avenue for a report of a burn victim around 10:30 p.m. Sunday; the employee told them a customer came through and handed her a burned dollar bill. 

After she took it, she realized the dollar was still smoldering, police said. She complained her left palm was hurt, but refused medical treatment at the scene, police said. 

The case remains under investigation, but police said no further information would be released at this time.
