BQE Lanes Reopen But Major Delays Expected Through Commute

Drivers should expect lingering delays on both sides of the the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway by Morgan Avenue after an accident investigation completely shut down the Brooklyn-bound side early Monday.

The city said the lanes had reopened around 7:30 a.m., about three hours after the initial call about the motorcycle-involved crash and 70 minutes into the westbound shutdown, but heavy delays were expected through the commute.

Chopper 4 video footage showed heavy traffic sitting on the road with several emergency vehicles closing the road on the westbound direction at one point as traffic moved slowly on the opposite side of the highway.
