Masked Suspects Toss Molotov Cocktail at Apartment Door: Police

A masked suspect and his accomplice tossed a Molotov cocktail at an apartment door and it was all caught on surveillance video, police said.

The two suspects went into a building near East 116th Street and Madison Avenue in East Harlem around 8:50 p.m. on Feb. 28 and walked through the hallway, surveillance tape shows.

One of the suspects then threw a bottle with a flammable liquid at a door while the other acted as a lookout, the NYPD said.

The two then fled the scene, according to police.

The fire started by the Molotov cocktail was extinguished, and no one was injured, the NYPD said.

Police say the attack was targeted, and the suspects knew whose home it was. However, the motive remains unclear.

Both of the suspects were wearing masks and are around 18 to 25 years old, police said. It wasn’t immediately clear why the victim’s door was targeted.
