A manhole was up in flames in Manhattan Saturday as firefighters battled to tame it, authorities said.
Firefighters first became aware of the blaze at Penn Plaza after a call came in after 3 p.m.
The manhole cover blew due to a transformer fire, Philip O'Brien, Con Edison spokesperson said.
Con Edison is on site checking for any elevated carbon monoxide levels.
There have been no reported outages, and no reported injuries, FDNY said.
