A man armed with a weapon demanded a Manhattan store worker to load thousands of dollars onto gift cards for him, police say.
The 40-something-year-old man stormed into Duane Reade in Murray Hill and threatened the store worker with a box cutter, according to the NYPD. He demanded she put $500 on 12 different gift cards and the frightened employee complied with his orders, officials said.
Once the suspect had the dozen gift cards totaling $6,000, he ran out of the store. Nobody was injured, police said.
The man was last seen wearing a blue hat and green hoodie. Police released surveillance images of him (above) and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
