Men With 102 License Suspensions Between Them Arrested Separately in Same NY County on Same Day

One man had 26 suspensions; the other had 76

Two men from the same town with 102 license suspensions between them were arrested in separate cases in the same Long Island county within 24 hours, authorities say.

In the first case, Suffolk cops say Rigoberto Campus, of Wyandanch, who has 26 suspensions on his license, hit a 77-year-old woman's car in the Kings Park area around 7 p.m. Sunday. He ran into the woods after the accident and remained at large for a number of hours before he was taken into custody early Monday.

Later Monday, shortly after noon, cops say another Wyandanch man, 41-year-old Darryl McDonald, was pulled over in Wyandanch for an expired inspection sticker. A routine DMV check revealed he was driving with a license that had been suspended 76 times on 15 different dates.

McDonald was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and was being held overnight pending a court appearance Tuesday.

Campos faces charges of aggravated unlicensed operation and leaving the scene of an accident. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries from the accident; it wasn't clear if the woman he hit was hurt.

It wasn't immediately clear if either man had retained an attorney, nor were the reasons for all their license suspensions available.
