Man Swipes Tools, Canned Food in NYC Burglary Spree: NYPD

A man is linked to four burglaries where tools and canned goods were stolen from Manhattan buildings last month, police say.

The NYPD says the man’s weeklong crime spree began on Sept. 21 when he broke into the basement of a building on Fort Washington Avenue, but he did not take anything.

The suspect then struck again two more times on the same block. On the night of Sept. 23, he stole two boxes of clothing and canned food from a 78-year-old woman. A few days later on Sept. 25, the man went into a third building where he took tools from the maintenance room.

He also swiped tools from a Riverside Drive building before noon on September 28 after getting in through the basement.

Police released surveillance photographs on Thursday in hopes of finding him.

Anyone with information about the thief should call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
