He tripped over a dog, busted his knee and suddenly his sex life was over. And now this elderly man is suing the popular Queens bar where it all went down.
Irving Grossman, 81, was trying to make his way to the OTB window at Austin's Steak and Ale House in Kew Gardens when he says he tripped over an unleashed Pomeranian and hurt his knee, according to published reports. He blames the managers at the saloon for his fall, saying their "pet-friendly" environment caused his injury.
In a lawsuit filed in Queens Supreme Court, Grossman claims the incident caused him "severe pain, shock, mental anguish" and decimated his sex life with his wife, reports the Daily News.
"What can I say? It's the story of my life," Grossman told the News, referring to his ill fortune. "I was in a brace for two months."
A manager at the bar said she didn't remember Grossman tripping or falling down, even though she was on the job on April 29 when it allegedly happened, reports the News.
City law makes it illegal to bring a dog inside a restaurant, and the manager, who wanted to remain anonymous, said Austin's is in full compliance with that regulation. However, a visually impaired customer often comes in with a Seeing Eye dog, she told the News.
Austin's Steak and Ale House is a full-service bar and restaurant that offers patrons the option to place bets on live thoroughbred races. We stopped by last weekend for the football game, and although we heard plenty of animalistic grunts, we saw no dogs.
