Arrest Made After Man Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash Involving 3 Cars

A 29-year-old Long Island man has been arrested after he fled the scene of a deadly hit-and-run crash involving three vehicles, police said.

Luke Figat, 25, was killed after he was hit by three vehicles while attempting to walk across Sunrise Highway, near Route 112 in Patchogue, early Saturday.

Police said the drivers of two of those vehicles stopped but that the driver of the third vehicle took off.

On Saturday night, police said detectives investigating the driver who fled the crash were led to 29-year-old Eduardo Aponte of Mastic.

Aponte was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He was scheduled to be arraigned in Central Islip on Sunday.
