Thief Takes MTA Bus on 2-Mile Joy Ride: Police

Authorities say a 20-year-old man obsessed with buses is accused of stealing a MTA bus and taking it on a 2-mile joy ride.

Police say Nickolas Ellias took the empty bus from the St. George Ferry Terminal on Staten Island and drove it to his Stapleton neighborhood early Monday.

Transit officials say the bus was parked on a ramp at the transit complex by a driver who was on a break.

The MTA used GPS technology to track down the missing bus. Police caught up with Ellias around 2 a.m.

Ellias was charged with grand larceny and ordered held on $10,000 bial.

His foster father, Santiago Rivera, told the Daily News that Ellias was obsessed with buses.
