Man Stabbed, Slashed on Upper West Side: Police

A man was stabbed repeatedly in the torso and slashed in the face by a stranger who sat next to him on the Upper West Side, police said Sunday. 

The 39-year-old man was sitting near Broadway and West 93rd Street on Saturday afternoon when the attacker sat next to him and threatened to stab him, the NYPD said. 

He punched the victim in the face and stabbed and slashed the victim, police said. 

The attacker fled and entered the subway station on 96th Street, police said. 

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital in serious but stable condition, police said. 

Police want to talk to a man in his 20s who is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 170 pounds and was wearing a red, white and blue T-shirt.
