Man Shouts Gay Slurs on Train, Punches Another Man in the Face: NYPD

A man yelled gay slurs and attacked another man while aboard a train in Brooklyn last week, according to the NYPD, and police said they are investigating the case as a hate crime.

On March 30, shortly before 9 a.m., the suspect shouted the gay slurs and sexual obscenities at the man while riding on the northbound C train in Crown Heights, police said.

The suspect then punched the 29-year-old victim in the face as the train pulled up to the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Avenue station, according to authorities.

When the train stopped, the suspect, believed to be in his 20s, ran away, the NYPD said.

The victim’s face swelled up and bruised after he was punched, but he refused medical treatment, police said.
