Man Shoots Wife to Death in Brooklyn: NYPD

A man shot his wife to death in Brooklyn, police said Saturday.

Officers found Ivelisse Alvarado-Genao, 30, of Bensonhurst, unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her head, the NYPD said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body was found late Friday on 36th Street in Seagate, where the road meets the sand of the beach, police said.

Police said they were searching for her husband, Gabino Genao. The 30-year-old is 6 feet tall and weighs about 200 pounds, police said.

He was arrested in November on a criminal contempt charge, police said. It wasn't clear if he was convicted or whether he had a lawyer.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

An earlier version of this story had the wrong address on 36th Street, in Coney Island instead of Seagate.
