Authorities are investigating the death of a 79-year-old western New York man whose riding lawnmower plunged off a 30-foot-high bluff overlooking Lake Ontario.
Police say the man's family members found him Sunday evening at the bottom of the bluff along the shoreline in the town of Webster, just east of Rochester. Officers say the family last saw him earlier in the afternoon when he was mowing his lawn.
Officials say the man's property includes a bluff overlooking the lake. It took firefighters and a crew from the nearby U.S. Coast Guard station several hours to recover the man's body.
The man's name hasn't been released.
