Police say a man who followed a 24-year-old woman into her Brooklyn apartment building punched her in the face and banged her head against the wall before raping her in the stairwell.
The man followed the victim into the lobby of her building near Tompkins Avenue and Hart Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant at about 5 a.m. Sunday, according to police.
Once inside, he punched her and whacked her head against the wall, then raped her in the stairwell, police said. He then chased her into her apartment before fleeing.
The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for bruises on her face and body.
Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect, who they say is between 25 to 35-years-old.
