Man Jumps Onto Subway Tracks to Steal Man's Dropped Phone: NYPD

A man was punched and his cellphone was stolen after he dropped in onto the tracks at a lower Manhattan subway station, police said.

The 20-year-old man dropped his iPhone onto the tracks at Bowling Green on April 29 at about 3:25 p.m. He was about to report the dropped phone to the attendant at the station’s booth, when another man jumped down onto the tracks and swiped the phone, according to the NYPD.

When the victim asked for his phone back, a second man punched him in the chest, and both suspects fled, police said.

Police released video of the two suspects entering the station. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
