Man in Custody After Stabbing 2 Women, 1 Fatally, in Apparent Domestic Dispute: Police

A man who allegedly stabbed his 44-year-old wife to death and wounded their 18-year-old daughter in an apparent domestic dispute has been taken into custody, police say. 

Authorities received a call reporting a stabbing at a home on 69th Avenue in Fresh Meadows around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the FDNY said.

The 44-year-old woman, later identified as Fatima Jawad, who was stabbed in the stomach, was pronounced dead at an area hospital, police said. The couple's daughter received slash wounds to her wrist and hands when she tried to intervene, according to police. She was hospitalized in serious but stable condition. 

The 57-year-old man, identified as Hussain Jawad, was taken into custody at the scene. He had a slash wound to the hand and was taken to Queens General Hospital for treatment. He is charged with murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Attorney information for Jawad wasn't immediately available. 

Police said the woman who died was the man's wife and the other woman was his daughter.
