Man Arrested After Giving Beer to Teen in Front of Cop

A Long Island man was arrested Thursday after he walked out of a gas station store with a case of beer and gave a can to a teenager -- all in plain sight of a police officer who was sitting in his marked car, police said.

A Suffolk County police officer was parked in the lot of a gas station at 195 Pine Aire Dr. in Bay Shore Thursday evening when he saw a man walking out of the convenience store with a case of beer, police said.

The man walked past the police officer in his patrol car and three teenage boys sitting on the curb by the police car, according to police. One of the boys asked the man for a dollar; the man proceeded to his vehicle, opened the case of beer and walked back to give a can of beer to the boy who asked for a dollar .

Michael Oromaner, 43, of Huntington, was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He's scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Oct. 5.

Attorney information was not available, and no phone number was listed for Oromaner.
