A 44-year-old man was arrested for allegedly intentionally driving an ATV into a uniformed police officer in the Bronx over the weekend, authorities say.
George Evangelista faces a bevy of charges in connection with the Fourth of July attack , including assault on a police officer, menacing, vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident with injury.
The officer was driving the ATV, which had been seized in an earlier incident, back to a police station in Hunts Point when Evangelista, also on a four-wheel ATV, allegedly rammed into him. The officer fell to the ground and the suspect drove off, police said.
The officer suffered cuts to both of his arms and trauma to his neck and back. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he was treated and released.
It wasn't immediately clear if Evangelista had an attorney.
