Irish Man, 21, Dies After Being Punched Outside Queens Bar

The New York Police Department says the death of a man who was punched in the head outside a bar has been classified as a homicide.

Authorities on Friday identified the man as 21-year-old John McGee of Queens.

Irish media reported he was from County Longford, in the country's midlands.

Police say McGee was punched around 3:45 a.m. Thursday in the Sunnyside section of Queens after a dispute that began inside the Gaslight bar and then extended outside.

Authorities say the man who punched him fled the scene and is being sought.

McGee was found lying on the ground with head injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
