Man Convicted in 25-Year-Old Cold Case

A jury convicted 44-year-old Kenneth West

A man has been convicted in the 1983 rape and murder of a woman in Westchester County, but he was acquitted in the death of another woman.

A jury convicted 44-year-old Kenneth West on Wednesday in the rape and murder of 53-year-old Josephine O'Keefe in her Pelham apartment, the Westchester County Prosecutors Office said.

Prosecutors argued DNA evidence proved West raped and killed O'Keefe during a burglary.

Lucian Chalfen, a spokesman for Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore, says the jury acquitted West in the killing of 23-year-old June Roberts in Mount Vernon in 1986.

West's defense lawyer has said his client had nothing to do with either killing.

Chalfen says West faces 25 years to life in prison when he's sentenced April 21.
