A Long Island man was arrested after he made threats to kill supporters of a Republican congressman and President Donald Trump, police say.

According to Suffolk County Police, 75-year-old Martin Astrof was arrested following a heated confrontation at Rep. Lee Zeldin’s congressional campaign headquarters in Nesconset at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Friday.

After allegedly threatening to kill a campaign worker and other supporters of Zeldin and Trump, Astrof proceeded to aggressively back his car up and nearly strike the worker, police said.

Astrof fled the scene and was arrested shortly after in front of his Nesconset home with charges of making a terroristic threat and reckless endangerment.

It's not clear whether Astrof has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
