Man Sexually Abuses 12-Year-Old Girl in Playground, Leaves Behind Wallet With ID: Officials

The man stole the girl's phone and two packs of cigarettes, but dropped his wallet when he ran off

A 24-year-old Queens man was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing and robbing a 12-year-old girl in a playground after he dropped his wallet at the scene and the girl brought his identification to police, authorities say.

Soloman Hudgins allegedly jumped the child from behind Wednesday at Bowne Playground, where the girl had gone to meet friends. Prosecutors say the girl tried to push him away, but Hudgins pulled at her clothing, opened her shorts and sexually abused her.

When the girl tried to use her iPhone to call for help, prosecutors say Hudgins, a stranger to the child, grabbed the phone and earbuds out of her hand and pulled off her shoes. He allegedly took two packs of cigarettes from the girl before running off, dropping his wallet in the process.

The girl took the wallet to police.

Hudgins was charged with first-degree sexual abuse, third-degree robbery and endangering the welfare of a child. Information on an attorney for him wasn't immediately available.
