Man, 20, Arrested in Manhattan Sex Attack Spree

A man was arrested Saturday after a sexual attack spree in which two women were attacked and a third was raped in the span of a few hours, police said Saturday.

The man, a 20-year-old Bronx resident, was arrested at around 1 a.m. on charges including burglary, robbery, coercion and rape, police said. It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer who could comment on the charges.

The man is accused of attacking a woman who fought him off early Thursday on James Street, police said. He robbed another woman and fled two hours later on Broome Street; and about an hour after that, he forced his way into a 40-year-old woman's apartment at the Baruch Houses and raped her, according to police.

Wanted posters posted throughout the Lower East Side had offered an award for the man, and residents of the Lower East Side housing complex had said they feared another attack with the assailant on the loose.
