A Nassau County police officer is accused of exposing himself multiple times to county employees.
Richard Furboter, 55, was charged for allegedly exposing himself on two separate occasions in June and September to county employees at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow while he was off duty.
Furboter, a 24 year veteran with the Nassau Police Department, was suspended without pay after his arrest on Oct. 3. However, he has since retired. He could lose $150,000 in severance pay.
One of the women who reported the incident to police reportedly told detectives, "I want this to stop. This is not normal. The working women here need protection."
Furboter’s lawyer, Raymond Voulo, refused comment.
In a statement, Nassau Police Department said “we are appalled by the nature of this incident.”
Local
Nassau Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder added that he was "disgusted" by it: "The whole department is disgusted by it."
"His shield will never be worn by another cop. It'll be melted down and thrown in the garbage."
