Long Island Man Charged With Stabbing His Mother 7 Times: Police

A man was arrested and charged with stabbing his mother in an Elmont home on Wednesday, authorities said.

Ivan F. Colon, 42, got into a heated argument with his 65-year-old mother in a home on Hoeffner Avenue, police said.

At one point, Colon grabbed two kitchen knives and stabbed his mother seven times, in the neck, arms and hands, police said. Colon then fled on foot.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and treated for severe wounds, police said. She is in stable condition

Police found Colon at the back lot of a Target store and arrested him.

Colon is charged with assault and possession of a dangerous weapon. He will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
