A Long Island man has been charged in a 2016 shooting that killed a man and woman during a robbery in Bay Shore.

Taheem Smith, 25, of Farmingville, pleaded not guilty to 11 federal counts Friday, including murder in aid of racketeering and drug charges.

His defense attorney declined to comment on the charges.

Authorities said Smith and his co-conspirators robbed a group of four people Sept. 2, 2016, near the Long Island Railroad station in Bay Shore.

David Arzu and Janelle Curella were fatally shot during the struggle.

Prosecutors said Smith belonged to the Bloods street gang.
