An apparent case of brutal violence on Long Island, where police have charged a man with killing a 17-month-old boy.
The incident occurred Sunday night on the Shinnecock Indian Reservation.
Police say they arrived on the scene to find the toddler in cardiac arrest. The boy died in a hospital shortly later.
On Monday, authorities slapped 20-year-old Pedro Jones of Southampton with a manslaughter charge. He pleaded not guilty.
Jones was the boyfriend of the child’s mother. Cops allege that Jones struck the boy while babysitting him.
