2 Long Island Day Care Workers Acquitted of Abusing Children

Two Long Island day care workers have been cleared of charges they physically abused infants and toddlers in their care.

Kathleen Culver and Sarah Dawber were acquitted of charges of endangering the welfare of a child after a bench trial in November.

The two women worked at the Side By Side Day Care Center in Southampton where they were responsible for children from four months to 18 months old.

They were accused in 2015 of force-feeding, pushing and slamming the children down on the floor.

Dawber's attorney had said the abuse claims were made up by an emotionally disturbed former employee.

In a statement after the decision, Culver said she was grateful that so many people stood behind her.
