Long Island Beach Closed Again Due to Bacteria Levels

For the second time in two weeks, a Long Island beach was closed to swimmers due to elevated bacteria levels, officials said.

The Tappen Beach in Glenwood Landing was closed Saturday, the Nassau County Health Department said. It was also closed June 24.

Heavy rain increases stormwater runoff, which can increase bacteria levels.
