1. Stove Burner Left 'On' in NYC Apartment Blaze That Killed 6

A family of six, including four children no older than 11, died in a blaze that started on the kitchen stove before it tore through their Harlem apartment, officials say.

A source close to the probe tells News 4 investigators found a burner in the "on" position and something was cooking on the stove at the time they fire broke out in a fifth-floor apartment kitchen at the Frederick E. Samuel Apartments on Seventh Avenue.

Family members told investigators the mother, 45-year-old Andrea Pollidore, would disconnect her smoke alarm when cooking, the source said.

2. Murder Suspect Claiming 6 Other Killings Cuffed in NYC: Cops

Authorities say a man accused of killing another man inside a Miami Beach apartment told detectives he was involved in six other previous murders in multiple states.

Nicholas Brent Gibson, 32, was arrested Sunday in New York City to face charges in the killing of 77-year-old Erik B. Stocker, Miami Beach Police officials said.

Detectives interviewed Gibson after his arrest and he made statements about his involvement in six other murders "during earlier times in his life," police said.
