1. 5 Killed, Several Injured in Shooting at Capital Gazette Newspaper

Five people have died and several others are "gravely injured" after a shooting Thursday at the Capital Gazette newspaper building in Annapolis, Maryland, officials say.

Authorities have identified the five victims as Gerald Fischman, Robert Hiaasen, John McNamara, Rebecca Smith and Wendi Winters.

The suspected shooter is 38-year-old Jarrod Ramos. He is charged with five counts of first-degree murder.

Ramos sued the Capital for defamation in 2012 after the paper published an article in 2011 about criminal harassment to which Ramos pleaded guilty. Two judges ruled against him.

2. Heat Wave Hits Tri-State Through July 4, Could Be Longest 90-Degree Stretch in 2 Years

It is time to brace yourselves for an expected heat wave that is headed to the tri-state and staying put for the next few days. 

This stretch of 90-degree-plus temperatures that could be longest in nearly two years. Hazy sunshine will sticky with the region through the weekend and into the start of the workweek next week.

The stifling heat is expected to break slightly by the Fourth of July on Wednesday.

3. Iconic NYC Bakery Closing Its Doors After 116 Years

Time to bid farewell to an iconic bakery that has delighted New Yorkers for over a century thanks to their well-known treats. 

After 116 years as a fixture in the city, Glaser's Bake Shop is closing its doors for good. The family-owned institution was founded in 1902 by German immigrant John Herbert Glaser and has been in the same First Avenue location ever since. 

Glaser's catapulted into the spotlight thanks to their black and white cookie. The cookie became so popular among New Yorkers that it was featured in an episode of "Seinfeld."

With the hot summer weather settling in, seasonal eateries are popping up all over the Big Apple.
