LIRR Main Line Restored Between Jamaica and Penn Station After Earlier Suspension

Long Island Rail Road service was suspended for several hours at the peak of the Friday morning commute after a person was hit by a train near Woodside Station.

LIRR service has since been restored after it was suspended westbound between Jamaica and Penn Station because of that train strike.

Service was restored around 6 a.m. Friday, but LIRR trains on all branches except the Port Washington Branch are skipping Kew Gardens, Forest Hills and Woodside. Customers should anticipate significant delays with some trains also being canceled.

The suspension was first reported around 3:30, about two and half hours after service was restored.

NYC Transit was cross-honoring tickets for the E train at Jamaica, Kew Gardens and Forest Hills. Westbound customers can transfer at Jamaica for LIRR service to Atlantic Terminal and then 2/3 service into Penn.

Chopper4 over the scene showed an idle train on the tracks with several police cars in the area.

The condition of the person hit by the train wasn't immediately clear.
