LI Firefighter Collapses, Dies While Battling Blaze

May have died of heart attack...

A firefighter on Long Island has died while battling a blaze.

The Huntington Manor Volunteer Fire Department said Richard Holst collapsed early Wednesday as he tried to put out a fire at the Uber Cafe bagel shop in Huntington Station.

The department said the 60-year-old firefighter was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The cause of death is under investigation.

Holst was a 31-year veteran of the department.

The blaze was reported at 3 a.m. Wednesday. It was contained about half an hour later.

Suffolk County police also are investigating the fire.
