Democratic Councilman Keith Powers says the city needs to ensure anyone who wants to run for office has the opportunity to do so.
Democratic Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo says it was difficult to run for office with a newborn last year. Cumbo notes that the measure is necessary because not everyone has a support team that can help with childcare.
