2 Planes Damaged After Clipping Wings at LaGuardia Airport; No Injuries Reported

Two planes clipped wings at LaGuardia Airport Thursday, causing damage to both aircraft but no injuries, sources familiar with the investigation tell NBC 4 New York.

Both planes involved -- WestJet Air flight 1200, a Boeing 737, and Republic Airline flight 5899, an Embraer E170 -- taxied to the ramp area after the 8:35 a.m. accident on one of the taxiways at the Queens hub, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

The extent of the damage to the planes wasn't immediately clear; travelers were being accommodated on other flights.

The investigation is ongoing.
