Knifepoint Bandit May Be Linked to 17 Robberies on Long Island: Police

A man armed with a knife robbed a grocery store in Lake Ronkonkoma on Sunday and police said it may be connected to 16 other area robberies.

Detectives said they believe the robbery at The Barn on Hawkins Avenue just before noon was part of a pattern. It wasn't clear if the robber made off with any cash Sunday.

Police said they believe it is the same man behind at least 16 other knife-point robberies on Long Island.

There have been 10 similar robberies in Nassau County and six in Suffolk County, authorities said.

The most recent robbery happened April 19 at a Baskin Robbins in Bohemia, police say.

The suspect in most of the robberies is described as about 5 feet, 7 inches and wearing winter clothing. He often targets chain ice cream shops and sandwich stores.

No one has been injured in the robberies, police said.
