Dozens of people have been displaced after fires tore through two multi-family condominiums in an upstate village.
Fire officials tell the Times Herald-Record of Middletown the first blaze started around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and burned through a six-family building in Kiryas Joel in Orange County. Another fire broke out at a nearby condo several hours later.
About 70 people were displaced because of the fire. No one was injured.
Officials say electrical problems are suspected of sparking both fires, but the causes remain under investigation.
Kiryas Joel was incorporated in 1977 by members of the Satmar Hasidic sect from Brooklyn.
