Police: After-Work Kidnapping Suspect Headed to New York

Police are looking for a Pennsylvania man charged with trying to kidnap a co-worker as they drove home together.

Fleetwood police say the woman escaped from the suspect, 20-year-old Ramfis Tavarez-Berroa, when he stopped at a gas station in Richmond Township, Berks County, on Wednesday night.

Police say the ordeal began when the woman agreed to drive the suspect home to York from their job in New Oxford, Adams County. At one point, they stopped for hamburgers and the woman let Tavarez-Berroa drive so she could eat. After that, police say he tied up the 23-year-old woman with a seat belt and her work lanyard.

Police say the woman got free and yelled for help when the suspect stopped to refuel. He drove off in her car, possibly headed to New York City.
