7 Passengers Hurt in NJ Transit Bus Crashes in Jersey City: Officials

Seven passengers riding an NJ Transit bus in Jersey City Tuesday morning were hurt when the vehicle swerved to avoid a car, hopped a curb and crashed into three cars in a dealership parking lot, authorities say.

The bus was heading toward Journal Square from Newark at about 8 a.m. when it crashed into the Honda dealership lot at Communipaw and Mallory avenues, according to NJ Transit and witnesses.

There were 12 passengers on the bus at the time of the crash, which felled a light pole and damaged two other cars. None of those who were taken to the hospital have serious injuries, authorities said.

Video posted to social media from the scene shows several passengers walking off of the crashed bus. The impact appears to have damaged several vehicles parked at the dealership.

It's not clear what caused the crash.
