A woman and her toddler son are in critical condition after they were hit by a minivan in Jersey City, police say.
The woman was crossing the street at Washington and Morris streets with her 3-year-old son at about 7 p.m. when they were struck by the minivan, according to Jersey City police.
The woman was pinned underneath the vehicle, and firefighters had to lift the minivan to get the woman out.
The child was also injured in the initial impact, police say.
Both were taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where they were listed in critical condition Friday night.
It's not clear if the driver is facing charges.
