Organizers say 197 teams are competing in the annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Queens.
The 24th annual dragon boat festival was taking place Saturday and Sunday in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
The teams are rowing across a lake in the park. They paddle in rhythm to the beat of a drummer.
The two-day festival includes music and demonstrations of traditional Asian folk arts and crafts.
Dragon boat racing is based on a legend of a Chinese court minister named Qu Yuan who lived from 340 to 278 B.C.
