U.N. Human Rights Worker Caught With Child Porn

Authorities say a human rights worker with ties to the United Nations was arrested at Kennedy Airport with child pornography in his suitcase.

The Queens District Attorney's office says Clarence Dias, president of the International Center for Law in Development, was arrested Tuesday with the child porn in his carry-on while going through security. He was on his way to Bangkok.

Prosecutors say Dias, whose office is located in the UN, told authorities the material was for research.

Dias was expected to be arraigned on felony charges of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child. Calls to his home and office seeking comment were not immediately returned.
