A homeless man was struck and killed by a New York City subway train Wednesday.
A transit agency spokeswoman said the brakes on a northbound 4 train in Brooklyn went into emergency mode Wednesday morning after striking something on the tracks at the Franklin Avenue station, near the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. She says a member of the train's crew discovered the man's body.
A police spokeswoman says the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say it's unclear whether the death was an accident or a suicide. They don't suspect criminality.
The man's identity isn't being released until his relatives are notified.
