Homeless Man Caught Stealing Women's Purses in Midtown Restaurants

A homeless man has been arrested for stealing a slew of women's purses from multiple restaurants in the Midtown area.

Maricio Dominguez-Bernal was spotted on surveillance video stealing the pocketbooks of women ranging from ages 24 to 81 years old, according to police. The purses contained credit cards, wallets, reading glasses, medication, EZ-Passes and designer accessories.

Surveillance footage of Dominguez-Bernal surfaced from a theft that occurred on June 14th. The video shows him loitering near a seated woman while he repeatedly drops a floppy hat by her purse while her back is turned.

He moves the pocketbook towards him, looks around and puts the hat back on, video shows. He then snatches the purse and quickly flees the restaurant.

Police say 64-year-old Maricio Dominguez-Bernal was arraigned Thursday on nine counts of grand larceny, and one count of petit larceny.
