The father of President Barack Obama's pick to head the Homeland Security Department says the nominee's family has a history of public service.
Obama was expected to formally announce Jeh C. Johnson's nomination Friday.
Johnson graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in Hudson Valley town of Wappingers Falls in 1975.
His father, Jeh V. Johnson, told the Poughkeepsie Journal in a telephone interview from the family's home in the Town of Poughkeepsie that his son appreciates keeping up the family tradition of public service.

The elder Johnson is a retired architect who received an Eleanor Roosevelt Val-Kill medal in 2009 for his work in urban development and for being a founder of the National Organization of Minority Architects.
