A New York suburban family has lost everything in a house fire that claimed their three pets and destroyed all their Christmas presents.
Fire officials say the pre-dawn Thursday fire at the two-family Yorktown house also damaged a first-floor auto towing business.
The couple suffered burns and was admitted to a hospital; their three children suffered smoke inhalation.
The family's dog, cat and python were killed.
The children's mother, Erin Lucido, says "all the presents are gone. We don't even have shoes, But it's all replaceable. We're all alive.''
The occupants of the other apartment escaped safely.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
