Grab Your Shorts and Sunscreen: Heat Wave Expected to Scorch This Week

Everyone who complained about the tepid start to June, take note: The heat is back on.

A heat wave is expected to bake the tri-state with temperatures in the 90s on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, Storm Team 4 says.

Sunday is expected to bring blazing sunshine and highs in the low 90s.

The worst of the heat wave is expected to hit Monday, with uncomfortable humidity and temperatures in the low- to mid-90s.

A few scattered storms are forecast to break the heat later Tuesday and provide relief Wednesday when highs are expected to be in the 70s.

Anyone planning to seek relief at the beach should beware of dangerous rip currents this weekend. Beach patrols aren't fully staffed yet on the Jersey Shore.

This would be the second heat wave of the year. In May, Central Park recorded the first heat wave in that month since 2001.
