Harlem Man Arrested in Daylight Robbery, Assault of Woman Walking in Central Park: NYPD

Police say they've arrested a suspect in a broad-daylight robbery and assault of a woman walking in Central Park last week.

The suspect, 55-year-old Oscar Jiggetts of Harlem, has been charged with third-degree robbery and attempted grand larceny, the NYPD said. It's not clear if he's retained an attorney.

Jiggetts is accused of approaching a 26-year-old woman walking on a path from the Great Hill last Wednesday morning and punching her repeatedly in the face. Police said he then took her purse and stole a wallet out of it, before giving the purse back to her and running away.

The woman suffered injuries to her face but refused medical attention, according to police.

The Great Hill is located in the upper western portion of the park, near West 105th Street.
