A 55-year-old Bronx man using a fake name allegedly committed 17 thefts at two Long Island gyms over a one-year period, making off with more than $165,000 worth of cash, high-end watches and assorted jewelry, police said Monday.

Alberto Gil was arrested Sunday on charges including grand larceny, petit larceny and possession of burglary tools.

Police say he used a fake name to obtain membership at the two gyms -- Lifetime Fitness on Zeckendorf Boulevard in East Garden City and LA Fitness on Marcus Avenue in New Hyde Park -- and broke into victims' lockers from April 2016 through April 17.

Gil allegedly used a small instrument specifically designed to compromise the locks at both of the gyms. He's accused of breaking into 15 at Lifetime Fitness and two at LA Fitness.
